Our story
Our story began in a small studio attached to a warehouse in the Ga-Rankuwa township, north-west of Pretoria. With only two sewing machines and four community members who needed a source of income, our brand was born. Our need for affordable genuine leather products and our passion for social entrepreneurship brought our vision, and products, to life.
Making our own bags meant building a workshop, and that gave us the chance to do something about a much bigger problem. South Africa has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world. It isn’t about a lack of skill or willingness. The opportunities simply aren’t there. So we set up our workshop in Waltloo, Pretoria, just minutes from Mamelodi, and aimed to contribute by hiring 18-24 year olds with no job experience and training them to become skilled artisans.Â
More than 26 youth (With no previous experience) have been trained to date, with the majority still working as artisans making your favorite products every day. The workshop currently provides full-time jobs to more than 42 artisans and sewing specialists.
We don’t believe in waste. Our leather trimmings and offcuts go to 12 local entrepreneurs and 2 schools for the differently abled, so they can craft various articles for their fundraising activities and businesses.
We take pride in providing high-quality products that are made with care and love. Each leather bag is unique and reflects the passion and talent of our artisans and sewing team. Our brand is more than just a business, it’s a movement committed to making a positive impact on our community. Thank you for being a part of our journey!
